Trendy Gallery in collaboration with ICONSIAM proudly presents a solo exhibition by the talented artist Noppawong Baothong, who tells the story of Thai culture through paintings that clearly reflect his superior skills and personality.
Everyone is cordially invited to experience the exhibition titled “Noppawong Rama”, which is the use of the film projection concept as the main idea to present works that are different in terms of content and formats but expressed in the same exhibition. It is like coming to see a movie in a stand-alone movie theater, and the movie that is screened in this round is a “Thai movie”.

Stand-alone cinemas, open-air cinemas, and drug-selling mobile cinemas used to be cheap entertainment centers for villagers in an era where two or more movies were screened in a “Cine-Rama” system with three lenses and large surrounding speakers to make the viewers feel involved in the movie events. Such arrangements made movie theaters or screening shops often end with the name “Rama”.

In an era where “street art” or “pop culture” is becoming popular both at home and abroad, it is gratifying that these works have helped drive the Thai art scene to both invigorate the economy and make art more accessible to the public. The word “art” is therefore not something that is incomprehensible but accessible to the general public. At the same time, however, traditional Thai art still needs to be vigorously maintained to preserve the national identity of local arts. This exhibition is meant to show that Thai art can live in the present and build the future based on the past as well.
