ADD TO ART, a historic group exhibition of leading street and emerging artists worth watching.
In this era, art and lifestyle of the new generation are merged together. That being the case, it is normal for them to go shopping for art pieces to add to their collections or decorate their homes. It is similar to going shopping for brand name clothes in department stores and dressing up looking good all the time. TRENDY GALLERY and ICON SIAM have joined forces to show ADD TO ART, a new group art exhibition from 9 talented artists, namely:
BENZILLA, 2CHOEY, 2ND2FRIEND, KARMS, POORBOY, JIGGO, YAMADA, ERTHH, CUSCUS THE CUCKOOS under the concept that reflects the consumer culture of the new generation with taste. Youngsters these days are starting to collect more art pieces, especially pop art. Hence, we want to invite everyone to come and look at as well as shop for art pieces in the style you like and take them back to perfect your personal collections of which you’re proud.
All the works displayed in this exhibition are special sets of works that the artists are determined to give them their best shot in their own unique style. These are the works that have never been displayed anywhere before. Let’s start with Benzilla, a famous street artist who brings stories of fashion and luxury brands as part of creating bold artwork that everyone will fall in love with at first sight. He continues to use the character LOOOK, the three-eyed alien, to create colors on the frame and bring much fun as ever. Meanwhile, 2CHOEY has picked up on pop culture and the world’s most important pop art pieces as an inspiration to create art pieces. The viewers will have fun interpreting the gestures of the character Fingies, the mischievous hand, as to what messages it is trying to convey this time. This is followed by pop artist 2nd2friend who will unveil a pin-up stainless steel sculpture. It is a sexy woman sitting on a throne that reflects the concept of gender equality for everyone to see for the first time at this event. Then, YAMADA, a street artist who presents paintings that perfectly combine virtual art forms and the aura of street art using the little pig character, which comes from the favorite story of the Three Little Pigs as well as his favorite toys in childhood, to recount stories.
As for POORBOY, a street artist with a green heart who has presented a painting that makes people smile along with the character of a cheeky furry monkey. This whole idea is meant to get people to pay attention to the conservation of nature and the environment through art. Then let’s imagine an adventure trip in the forest with a good-humoured artist CUSCUS THE CUCKOOS who brings together various kinds of animals to create colors and vitality on the canvas. And it’s time for JIGGO, an artist who is passionate about vintage toys from the 50s’ era, to present paintings that gently satirize society on various issues by using his favorite toys as characters to convey stories. For those of you who are still impressed with KARMS’ paintings that demonstrate the excellence of skills and conception, this time he presents a new painting that reflects the behavior of people using social media nowadays who act and believe in the same fashion. They ignore the truth and what the outside world is like. The work is also outstanding judging from the intricate drawing techniques and sophistication. The event ends with ERTHH, a new generation artist who wants to invite everyone to sit back in a time machine to a fun-filled childhood memory world with toys, cartoon characters, and models with paintings in the style of pop surrealism at which he is good.
